Regional Director South-East Asia
The organization of the South-East Asia operations is in transition. The seat of the region, currently Manila, will be relocated. The new Regional Director will play an important role in determining the way activities are organized and where.
Result Areas
Contribute to the creation of social impact with an adequate financial return, delivering services in (new and) existing markets in full compliance with investment mandates, local law, regulation and Oikocredit policies and guidelines. Engage in partnerships to conduct investment activities and / or give specialist advice to the relevant internal and / or external stakeholders, related to a specific designated area.
Job purpose
- Grow Oikocredit’s development finance portfolio by building a sustainable portfolio in line with agreed strategy and manage impact, risk and return.
- Lead the team in finding, developing, consolidating and expanding products, services and partnerships to sustain strategic ambitions.
- Expand the portfolios in financial sector, agriculture and renewable energy.
- Develop and implement policies and the annual plan for the region that enable the organization to achieve its business objectives.
- Be the representative for the region, networking and fundraising.
Main responsibilities
Within the assigned region, this position is responsible for business results, excellence of operations and ensuring that all activities are in line with the risk / audit / compliance strategy and applicable regulations, as well as for the development and performance of the employees, creating an effective and efficient functional team and an engaging and enabling work climate.
The mains tasks are:
- Develop a vision and strategy for the region, lead execution and manage the budget and performance. Manage expansion to new focus countries, if relevant.
- Build a diversified portfolio of quality projects allowing for sustainability.
- Ensure the ‘right people are in the right place. Manage and coach team.
- Make sure a close relationship with project partners is maintained.
- Lead and implement organizational changes and improvements, act as a role model. Lead people in an inspiring way, bring them together to realize collective action, encourage feedback and personal development.
- Monitor and safeguard profitably, quality and impact portfolios irrespective of where these projects are booked or managed.
- External representation and partnership building to support innovation, portfolio development, capacity building and fundraising.
Qualifications
- Academic level in the field of development economics or business administration/finance.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in business, banking, an/or economics in senior management roles in an international environment.
- Extensive relevant experiences in evaluation of investment proposals, as well as management of equity and credit relationships. Experience in negotiating and structuring of complex investment and financing facilities.
- In depth knowledge of the assigned geographical area,
- Experience in working in a complex governance environment with multi-stakeholder involvement.
- Excellent proficiency in English and Bahasa.
- Experience with capacity building programs or working with public-private technical assistance programs.
- Experience in multicultural personnel management is a plus.

Additional remarks
