Regional Manager Southeast Asia

Key result areas of the department
- Develop and implement a strategy to grow the financial inclusion and agriculture portfolio.
- Management of the regional Financial Inclusion and Agriculture debt investment portfolio, ensuring quality and performance.
- Support the development of the Renewable Energy and Community and Climate resilience portfolio.
- Build and sustain strategic regional partnerships within designated markets: Indonesia, Vietnam and Cambodia.
- Drive social impact while balancing financial return and risks.
- Contribute to the development of new products and services, for example Community Focussed Approach, and ensure adoption and implementation.
- Improve efficiency within the Financial Inclusion portfolio, including straight through processing.
- Ensure full compliance with investment mandates, local laws, regulations, and Oikocredit’s policies and guidelines.
- Monitor regional and country-specific political and economic developments, providing informed advice to internal and external stakeholders.
Job purpose
As the Regional Manager for Southeast Asia, you will lead and develop regional teams, currently comprising one member in Indonesia and two in Cambodia, to sustain and expand a robust Financial Inclusion and Agriculture portfolio. Our primary focus is on growth in Indonesia and other countries such as Vietnam. You will forge strategic partnerships, drive social impact, and ensure adherence to local laws and organizational policies. Your role is crucial in achieving our strategic goals and representing Oikocredit in the region.
Main responsibilities
- Strategic Planning and Execution: Define and implement the regional strategy, set annual objectives, and manage the budget to achieve desired outcomes.
- Leadership and People Management: Foster a collaborative and entrepreneurial team environment, ensuring the right people are in the right roles.
- Operational Efficiency: Streamline processes to enhance efficiency within the Financial Inclusion portfolio, allowing for focused investment in specialized finance.
- Collaboration and Alignment: Promote teamwork and shared accountability across units, leveraging insights and best practices.
- Portfolio Performance: Achieve target KPIs related to portfolio growth, asset quality, and returns, ensuring strong financial health and social impact.
- Partnership Development: Build and maintain relationships with local partners, including banks, NGOs, and government entities, to support investment objectives.
- Risk and Compliance Management: Ensure all investments adhere to local laws, regulatory requirements, and organizational policies.
- Impact and Financial Balance: Balance profitability with mission-aligned outcomes, regularly assessing social impact against financial performance.
- Regional Insight: Provide timely insights on political, economic, and regulatory developments to support strategic decision-making.

Education, skills and experience
- Master’s degree in Development Economics, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- At least 5+ years of experience in financial services industry, in a senior leadership role in an international environment.
- Experience in working in a complex governance environment with multi-stakeholder involvement.
- In depth knowledge of Southeast Asia.
- Experience with capacity building programs or working with public-private technical assistance programs.
- Experienced in negotiating and structuring of complex deals.
- Comprehensive knowledge of financial principles, investment mandates, and business development.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and portfolios simultaneously.
- Excellent proficiency in English; another language from the region like Bahasa would be nice.
Additional remarks
Willingness to travel to the region up to 15-20% of the time.
The role is open for 36 hours per week (90%).
