Legal Intern
For our Legal team, we are looking for a Legal Intern ( 40 hours) to be based in our Abidjan Office.
The start date will be May 2025 and is for a period of 6 months (extensible once).
Result areas of the department
The Legal & Compliance unit is responsible for providing legal counseling and ensuring overall compliance within the assigned scope. The team focuses on ensuring compliance of the legal status of the structure, operations, and agreements (inflow, credit, equity, external) of Oikocredit and related entities (e.g., OISF, ISUP, regional offices) and on developing compliance policies. Moreover, the team advises and support to the compliance of the SAs in line with the determined scope. Note that monitoring compliance (2nd line) falls under the responsibility of the Portfolio & Business Control Unit.
Job purpose
The Legal Intern is responsible to provide support to the Africa and Asia Legal Counsels on their daily duties, mainly but not limited to ensuring legal and regulatory compliance as well as advice on legal risks and transactional support and advise on outflow loan and equity.
Result areas of the job
The Legal Intern has two main areas of focus: provide support to the Africa and Asia Legal Counsels on legal and regulatory compliance.
From a transactional point of view, the Legal Intern provides support to the Africa and Asia Legal Counsels on the administrative and operative aspects of transactions and drafts, legal research, reviews loan agreements and collateral documentation, fulfilment of all required formalities to safeguard Oikocredit's rights as a creditor.
Key responsibilities
- Supporting with legal formalization process.
- Supporting of the corporate legal compliance.
- Supporting operative activities of Africa and Asia Legal Counsels.
- Supporting and collecting relevant data at the different areas of Legal.
- Conducts legal research on emerging topical legal issues.
- Manages and updates functional databases used by Legal.
- Supports with administration duties and data input
- Collect, assess, document and control (changes in) processes for the assigned area and, if necessary, correct detected errors and / or gaps in processes
- Prepare / ensure preparation, explain and follow up on management reports, at request or at own initiative, in line with company reporting standards.
- Keep track of standard templates of legal documents, forms, standard procedures and policies for the Africa and Asia region.
- To keep track and control of the POA´S, local registrations, loan agreement dates validation, others.
- To control and update required information systems .
Education, skills and experience
- Enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Law.
- Familiarity with OHADA law.
- A strong interest in impact financing, development, and sustainable business practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in business in French and English
- Excellent research, analytical, and writing skills.
- Enterpreneurial mindset and enthusiastic personality.

- You will receive an internship allowance amounting from XOF 150,000 to XOF 200,000 gross per month, depending on the education level on the basis of 40 hours per week. In case the number of hours is less, the allowance will be calculated pro rata.
