About the department
The Cooperative Affairs unit supports Oikocredit and its governance bodies (General Meeting, Members’ Council, Supervisory Board, Managing Board and Risk Committees) with its functioning and decision-making and ensures compliance with relevant external and internal regulations. The unit also supports the mission and business of Oikocredit by providing legal advice for the Corporate and Investor Engagement teams and supports management with managing the overall Legal and Regulatory Risk of the company.
About the job
The Legal Counsel is responsible to perform and provide legal analysis and advice concerning legal and regulatory compliance within the result areas of the job.
Main responsibilities
- Participation in legal projects such as corporate governance and regulatory compliance with its respective reporting needs.
- Support with Intellectual Property and Insurance portfolio management.
- Report on developments regarding legal and regulatory risk.
- Interact with external counsel on relevant areas.
- Act as a secretary for Supervisory Board, Managing Board or Risk Committees, including agenda, document review, minuting and following up of actions and decisions.
- Ensure up to date corporate registrations and archiving.
- Assist in identifying and monitoring applicable new laws and regulations impacting the organization, translate these into internal guidelines and procedures, and assist in identifying and raising awareness of legal risks and monitor their implementation by the business.
Education, skills and experience
- Master´s degree in Law, preferably at an EU university.
- Minimum 2 years of work experience as a lawyer or in-house counsel.
- Fluency in legal English, both verbally and in writing. Fluency in another language is an asset.
- A keen understanding of legal frameworks, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to navigate complex regulatory environments and translate business requests into legal matters and vice versa.
- Ability to work independently and with great sense of responsibility.
- A committed team player with an international attitude, down to earth, pragmatic, pro-active and result-oriented with strong project management and social skills.

Additional remarks
The role is offered for 36 hours a week (0,9 fte).
Candidates must possess a valid work permit for the Netherlands.
