IT Business Analyst -Data & Analytics / Data Warehouse

About the department
This unit is responsible for delivering IT-change. The delivery teams are responsible for managing demand from business units, implementing changes to applications, handing over to support. Implementation will be done in close cooperation with the respective functional business owners per application and IT infrastructure (e.g. configuration and release management and database management). Next to that the department is responsible for integration of IT-systems (interfacing with internal and external sources).
About the job
As an IT Business Analyst, you will collaborate with business stakeholders, data engineers, and solution architects to translate business needs into clear, validated requirements for our Azure‑based Data Platform. You will work with conceptual and logical data models, analyse reporting and data quality needs, and ensure solutions meet functional, regulatory, and information security standards.
You understand how KPIs and control metrics operate across operational, tactical, and strategic levels, and you are able to embed these layers effectively in conceptual reporting architectures to ensure meaningful, consistent, and governance‑aligned insights.
Main responsibilities
Collaborate with business units to capture, analyse, and document business requirements for reporting, analytics, and data integration.
Translate requirements into functional specifications, data definitions, and acceptance criteria.
Work with delivery teams to refine backlog items, ensuring clarity, feasibility, and testability.
Validate conceptual and logical data designs with architects and data engineers to ensure architectural consistency.
Assess data quality, data lineage, and governance implications; promote best practices in data stewardship.
Integrate compliance considerations (e.g., AVG/GDPR, EU AI Act) and information security principles into requirement definitions.
Support testing and validation to ensure delivered features meet requirements.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of Business Analysis standards, methods, and templates.
Required skills and experience
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Management, Data/Computer Science, or a related field.
Proven experience as a Business Analyst in data warehousing, BI, reporting, or analytics environments.
Strong understanding of conceptual reporting architecture and how KPIs/control metrics differ across organisational levels.
Knowledge of ETL/ELT processes and data modelling principles.
Familiarity with modern data platforms (Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake, Synapse, Databricks, or comparable).
Experience in data governance, data quality frameworks, and metadata management.
Understanding of compliance requirements (AVG/GDPR) and information security basics.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, including the ability to work with complex datasets and data flows.
Excellent facilitation and communication skills with business and IT stakeholders.
Preferred qualifications
Ability to read and understand models expressed in ArchiMate, BPMN, UML, or standard data modelling notations.
Experience working in Azure cloud environments.
Knowledge of agile ways of working.
Relevant BA certifications (IIBA CBAP/CCBA, PMI‑PBA) are an advantage.
