About the job
The Global Capacity Building Specialist Climate Solutions is responsible for working with the business to identify, develop and manage the implementation and profiling of CB programs which will mark Oikocredit’s differentiated offer and positioning as a social impact investor within the impact investing landscape.
Result areas of the job
The Global Capacity Building Specialist Climate Solutions shall work in close coordination with the relevant Sector Heads to identify, develop and implement relevant programs which are scalable/replicable and with clear potential of contributing to high environmental or social impact.
Main responsibilities
Close cooperation with Impact Investments Sector Heads and Regional Offices (mainly in Africa and LAC) to establish priorities and develop programs in line with Oikocredit’s strategy and partner needs related to Climate Solutions.
Identify opportunities for CB for climate finance and provide input for the proposals to present to external funders.
Ensure uniform understanding and practices in planning, implementing, reporting, monitoring, and evaluation of CB programs in line with Oikocredit’s internal frameworks and funder requirements.
Support the development of a community of practice within Oikocredit, to contribute identifying best practices, needs and priorities to support organizations with CB for Climate Solutions.
Develop and deliver capacity building programmes for SMEs in agriculture-energy nexus, focusing on operational efficiency, market access, and investment readiness, including ESG compliance and impact measurement.
Provide advisory on renewable energy applications in agriculture (e.g., solar irrigation, cold storage, agro processing) and facilitate related partnerships.
Design training modules for entrepreneurs and technicians on energy systems, climate-smart agriculture, and business management.
Contract and manage consultants who deliver capacity building on the ground when necessary.
Education, skills and experience
Master’s degree in Economics, Agriculture, Finance or Energy Engineering; or experience in climate finance or venture building in Latam, Africa or Southeast Asia.
Experience working with climate finance instruments (such as GCF, GEF, bilateral climate instruments, etc.) and/or institutions (such as UN agencies and development banks) with experience on how private finance contributes to climate finance.
Experience in SME capacity building in governance, financial modelling, and investment readiness with a strong understanding of agricultural value chains and productive use of renewable energy in rural contexts.
Knowledge of solar energy IoT digital tools for agri (mobile-based platforms).
Ability to review work by consultants supporting private project developers advance project concepts, start-up businesses, and ‘aggregator’ organizations that work directly with multiple businesses such as traders, cooperatives or lenders.
Familiarity with RE impact measurement frameworks (ESG, SDG alignment).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Willingness to travel within country/internationally up to 15-20% of the time.
