Reporting to: Chief Operating Officer
Result areas of the department
Accounting: Ensure accurate and timely accounting of Oikocredit’ s assets, liabilities, and all financial transactions. Maintain a sound AO/IC framework to safeguard the integrity of financial processes, including payment systems, treasury operations, policies, procedures, and transfer pricing tools.
Business Control: Deliver high-quality short- and long-term financial planning. Prepare annual budgets, monitor expenditures, and conduct financial forecasting throughout the year. Ensure timely statutory, regional, and consolidated financial reporting in line with the agreed calendar. Submit accurate statutory reports to stakeholders (e.g., tax filings, CRS/FATCA filings, ISUP board, OISF board). Provide relevant financial and non-financial reports to the managing board to support decision-making.
Business Intelligence and Data Utilization: Provide the organization with business insights through research and analytics. Enhance performance by effectively utilizing internal and external data sources to support business processes.
Data Governance: Establish and maintain robust data governance frameworks to ensure data quality, accessibility, and compliance with regulatory requirements. Act as the product owner for the data engineering domain.
Data-Driven Decision-Making: Enhance the quality and efficiency of financial reporting through automation and the use of available technology.
Job purpose
As the Head of Finance, you ensure the financial health of the organisation by providing timely and accurate insight into its financial position to the MB. You will do so by ensuring accurate and timely accounting of financial events, accurate financial forecasting, providing business insights, and relevant (non-)financial and regulatory reporting. Furthermore, you maintain integrity of financial processes, drive efficiency through automation, stimulate data driven decision making, and ensure compliance with Oikocredit’ s tax objectives and legislation.

Accounting & Forecasting: Design, implement, and refine accurate forecasting mechanisms to support financial planning. Ensure robust accounting practices that provide a reliable financial foundation for the organization.
Financial Planning and Budgeting: Lead the development and delivery of timely, accurate long- and short-term financial plans that align with Oikocredit’ s strategic objectives. Oversee the preparation of the annual budget submission and ensure effective budget monitoring and forecasting throughout the year.
Financial Reporting: Ensure the timely preparation and delivery of statutory, regional, and consolidated financial reports in accordance with agreed calendars and applicable standards to relevant stakeholders (MB, SB, etc). Guarantee the accuracy and completeness of financial reporting to internal and external stakeholders.
Regulatory Compliance and Statutory Reporting: Oversee the accurate and timely submission of all statutory filings, including tax filings, CRS/FATCA filings, and reporting to the ISUP and OISF boards. Stay informed of changes in financial regulations and tax requirements, ensuring compliance across the organization.
Tax Optimization & Compliance: Develop and implement tax strategies that optimize Oikocredit’ s tax position while ensuring full compliance with international and local tax regulations. Provide oversight of tax planning and risk mitigation across all jurisdictions where Oikocredit operates.
Internal Controls and Financial Integrity: Maintain and enhance a robust Administrative Organization/Internal Control (AO/IC) framework to safeguard the integrity of financial processes. Oversee payment systems, policies, procedures, and transfer pricing tools to ensure they are reliable, efficient, and compliant.
Data utilization and analytics: Drive the strategic use of data in decision making by creating a centre of expertise that leads the organisation in collection, using and creating insights.
Process Improvement and Automation: Drive continuous improvement in the quality, speed, and efficiency of financial reporting by leveraging automation and available technology. Collaborate with IT and other stakeholders to implement tools and processes that enhance financial operations and decision-making.
Leadership and Collaboration: Lead and mentor the Accounting, Control, and Tax team to foster a culture of excellence, accountability, and collaboration. Work closely with other units to ensure alignment of financial practices with Oikocredit’ s mission and operational goals.
Strategic Support: Provide strategic financial insights and analysis to support decision-making at the senior leadership level. Contribute to the overall strategic direction of Oikocredit by aligning financial strategies with the organization’s social impact mission.
Education, skills, and experience
Masters’ Degree in the field of Finance or Economics with a chartered accountant or controller certificate (RA/RC).
Minimum 10 years of relevant work experience.
Knowledge of the financial markets and accounting of financial products including derivatives.
Experienced working in a multi-cultural environment.
Experienced in working at board/executive team level.
Good understanding of Dutch GAAP, IFRS is a plus.
Excellent People management skills.
Extensive computer literacy, especially in excel and power BI.
Strong analytical skills.
Ability to lead (automation) projects in a multi stakeholder environment.
Fluency in English.
