About the job
As a Senior Investments Officer you are responsible for pursuing & delivering Oikocredit’s mission as a reality on the ground. Its operations reflect Oikocredit’s vision and mission ambitions. You do this by building a portfolio of investments which is geared towards specific social impacts contributing towards the social impact goals and financial targets in Oikocredit’s overall strategy.
As a Senior Investments Officer you act as a relationship manager, translating market developments and client needs into opportunities to create impact and do business. Although specialized in a specific sector, you are able to speak on the Oikocredit strategy and sectors and on the products and services that we offer. You will work with internal or external experts where required in the best interest of our partners and Oikocredit.
Main responsibilities
Portfolio Management
You build, maintain and monitor a portfolio of impactful investments in one or more countries in Africa and have a specialization in financial inclusion and agriculture. You focus on commercial activities, are knowledgeable on SPM, ESG and on more complex investments. You work closely together with specialists at regional level (for example ESG and Capacity Building , Equity Officers) specialists in Oikocredit (agriculture, climate and financial inclusion) and Investment Risk Officers to build a well-performing, impactful portfolio in line with the regional strategy. You are responsible for the country’s portfolio performance, that balances impact, risk and return. You are responsible for the quality check of the new proposals before them being sent to the Credit Committee.
Social Impact and Capacity Building
You identifiy the needs and opportunities in your geographies and deliver specific social benefits or outcomes primarily to Oikocredit’s target group of low-income households and communities. You are also well positioned to identify needs and opportunities for Capacity Building and are responsible for creating CB proposals in collaboration with CB specialists/ coordinator.
Market Development and Representation
You are responsible for understanding local market development and acting upon them; maintaining the local networks; representing Oikocredit at conferences and events; identifying potential new partners; conducting due diligence and preparing proposals and present these to the Credit Committee.
Deal Execution and Monitoring
Supporting the closing of deals and disbursement; deal monitoring and reporting; monitoring ESAP monitoring and supporting capacity building projects; and being an extension of teams such as Compliance or the Special Collections Unit.
Risk and Compliance
Responsible and accountable for KYC, due diligence and deal quality including impact and risk assessment.
Education, skills and experience
Advanced university degree in the field of finance and banking, business, economics or agricultural economics or economic development.
Minimum 7 years of relevant work experience in banking, market analysis and/ or economic development.
Advance knowledge of inclusive finance (mandatory) and agriculture finance (preferred).
Strong analytical skills.
Fluency in English and French.
Extensive user skills of Microsoft Excel and computer literacy in general.

Additional Remarks
Willingness to travel within country/internationally up to 15-20% of the time.
